1. How and when did the production of dietary supplements begin?
It all started after Chornobyl nuclear power plant accident in 1986.
Doctor of Biology Leontiy Fedorovych Gorovyi developed the technology of decontamination of harmful radioactive waste. I was the liquidator of the consequences of this terrible accident and directly participated in the evacuation of people who were injured in the contaminated areas. They all suffered from radioactive exposure. At that time, methods of treatment of such cases did not exist.
After getting acquainted with technology of Dr. Gorovyi it became clear to me that it can be used to improve the condition of irradiated people.
As a result of many years of our joint research a natural product for improving the quality of health was designed. This new product was fully based on chitin-glucan-melanin complex derived from tinder mushroom (lat. Fomes Fomentarius). Together with Dr. Gorovyi we started its production in 1998. Today the product which is based on the chitin-glucan-melanin complex is available for sale under the two brands FOMIE and MYCOTON.
2. What is chitin – glucan – melanin complex?
It is a combination of three biopolymers and polysaccharides: chitin/chitosan (about 70%), beta-glucans (about 20%) and melanin (about 10%).
Chitin is a natural biopolymer similar to cellulose. It forms microfibrils in the cell walls of fungi, creating a spatial network. Such a structure provides a large surface area, which allows FOMIE to have high sorption capabilities. Chitin can effectively absorb heavy metal ions and radioactive elements without disturbing the mineral balance of the body.
Glucans are polysaccharides with powerful biological activity. They have immunomodulatory, oncostatic (antitumor), antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. FOMIE’s glucans contribute to its immunomodulatory properties.
Melanin is a natural pigment known for its ability to bind free radicals, protecting cell membranes and preventing the destruction of vital tissues. It also exhibits genoprotective properties that protect genetic material from damage.
This complex is obtained in the form of a dry extract after thermal and mechanical processing of the biomass of the tinder mushroom. It is popularly known as a blood sponge, and in Latin its name is Fomes Fomentarius. The name of our dietary supplement FOMIE comes from the Latin name of this beautiful mushroom.
3. Is tinder mushroom poisonous?
This mushroom has long been used by Ukrainians to stop bleeding, treat stomach disorders, and cleanse the body of toxins. Therefore it is not poisonous at all. But on the contrary it contains the medicinal components of chitin, glucan and melanin.
4. Is it necessary to follow a certain diet when taking FOMIE?
Since FOMIE is not a drug, it falls under the category of dietary supplements. But this does not mean that it should be used as part of a certain diet. First of all, I want to say that precisely under the condition of systematic use of FOMIE its effectiveness is maximally realized, metabolism is normalized.
